Virginie Efira stars as 17-century nun Benedetta Carlini in this French drama directed by Paul Verhoeven. Based on a true story, the film follows Benedetta as she embarks on an illicit love affair with new arrival Bartolomea (Daphne Patakia), a peasant who seeks refuge in the Tuscan convent after fleeing her abusive family.
