Terry-Thomas, Peter Sellers and Luciana Paluzzi star in this comedy directed by Roy Boulting and Jeffrey Dell. During the 18th century, Britain colonised the island of Gaillardia and then proceeded to forget about it for years until valuable mineral deposits are found there. Hoping to profit from the discovery, the Foreign Office send the incompetent Cadogan De Vere Carlton-Browne (Terry-Thomas) to investigate the situation and he soon becomes embroiled in a fight for control of the island and its riches. The cast also includes Ian Bannen, John Le Mesurier and Thorley Walters.
