Warren Beatty and Julie Christie star in this revisionist Western directed by Robert Altman. In 1902, John McCabe (Beatty) arrives in the mining town of Presbyterian Church, Washington. He sets up a gambling hall and brothel and enters into a partnership with Constance Miller (Christie), who takes over management of the brothel. However, as the two - and the town - become richer, they attract the attention of a ruthless mining company who want to buy them out and will not take no for an answer. The cast also includes Rene Auberjonois, WIlliam Devane and John Schuck.
