Ralph Thomas directs this British comedy based on the novel by Jerrard Tickell set in 1940. The island of Armorel has been occupied by German troops and after the island was evacuated, a pedigree cow was left behind with a valuable bloodline. Tasked with safely retrieving Venus the cow, Major Morland (David Niven) and Nicola Fallaize (Glynis Johns) are sent to Armorel to ensure Venus does not end up in the enemy's hands.
