George Pal directs this post-apocalyptic sci-fi adventure based on the novella by H.G. Wells. George (Rod Taylor) is a Victorian-era inventor who has built a time machine capable of transporting him far into the future. At first he travels to 1917 and then 1940 and is disillusioned by what he finds. In 1966, he witnesses the destruction of London but then he arrives in the year 802,701 where he finds the human race has divided into two groups. The Eloi live simple lives on the planet's surface while the Morlocks live underground and harbour a dark secret. As he attempts to help the Eloi, will he succeed in changing their fate? The cast also includes Alan Young, Yvette Mimieux and Sebastian Cabot.
