The series follows time traveller James Cole (Stanford), who travels to the present day from the year 2043 to find the source of a deadly virus which will cause the death of over 90 per cent of the world's population. Aided by virologist Cassandra Railly (Schull), Cole learns that the shadowy 'Army of the Twelve Monkeys' may have something to do with the virus.
