Documentary about journalist and urban activist Jane Jacobs and her opposition of New York city planner Robert Moses, examining the effects of Moses' redevelopment and the resistance Jacobs rallied against it. Jacobs worked as a journalist in New York City and wrote at length about how Moses' urban renewal projects were in fact tearing down neighbourhoods and their communities, even publishing a book called 'The Death and Life of Great American Cities' decrying Moses as a destructive force. Jacobs even succeeded in rallying popular support against Moses, denying him free reign over the city and engaging people with the issues of the urban ecosystem and community. Matt Tyrnauer blends footage and interviews with both Moses and Jacobs to explain the conflict between the two and its context.
