This class indicator is an excellent tool which assesses the levels of emotional literacy that operate either in a class or small group. It can be read out to younger children or used independently by older pupils. The indicator is unique in that it takes into account the fact that we all respond differently in different environments. Thus it is designed to be answered anonymously and to reflect the future of that specific group as a whole. Classes and groups who have used this have found it very empowering because it reflects so accurately where the emotional and social strengths of the group lie and where their barriers to success are. This makes it easier for classes to devise goals for themselves on aspects such as communication or conflict handling. Small amounts of focused work on these have made bid differences to the quality of the class experience for everyone.
