Lee Marvin, Ernest Borgnine and Charles Bronson star in this classic war drama directed by Robert Aldrich. In 1944, 12 convicted criminals are selected by Major John Reisman (Marvin) and his commander Major General Sam Worden (Borgnine) for a mission codenamed Operation Amnesty. With the aid of Sergeant Bowren (Richard Jaeckel), Reisman gradually moulds his gang of murderers and thieves into a tough fighting unit. He leads them into occupied France in an attempt to infiltrate a chateau where a group of high-ranking Nazi officers are based, but will the mission succeed? The cast also includes John Cassavetes, Jim Brown and Telly Savalas.
