Japanese sci-fi action sequel written and directed by Kazuki Omori. After attacking Tokyo, Godzilla is imprisoned in a mountain and various international factions compete to possess the monster's cells for the purposes of experimentation. Scientist Genshiro Shiragami (Kôji Takahashi) is hoping to genetically modify plants using Godzilla's cells but when mercenaries attack his lab, his daughter Erika (Yasuko Sawaguchi) is killed. Overcome with grief, Shiragami combines cells from Godzilla with those from a rose and from Erika and creates a hybrid he names Biollante. After growing rapidly in size, Biollante escapes containment and when Godzilla is freed, the two monsters engage in a fierce battle where Biollante's ability to evolve threatens Godzilla's supremacy.
