Masatoshi Nagase stars as private detective Maiku Hama in this triple bill of Japanese thrillers directed by Kaizô Hayashi. In 'The Most Terrible Time in My Life' (1993) Hama agrees to help a Taiwanese waiter who is looking for his missing brother but in the course of his investigation, he finds himself embroiled in a gang war. 'The Stairway to the Distant Past' (1995) sees Hama take on the mysterious White Man (Eiji Okada) who controls the Yokohama riverfront as he attempts to dismantle a smuggling operation. Finally, in 'The Trap' (1996), Hama hunts for a brutal serial killer but the case soon becomes deeply personal.
