Two early martial arts dramas from influential Chinese action director John Woo. In 'Last Hurrah for Chivalry' (1979) two swordsmen (Wei Pai and Damian Lau) are employed to protect the honourable merchant Kao (Liu Chiang) and his family. However, a number of lies and deceits lead both men to question what honour really means. In 'Hand of Death' (1976) the Shaolin monks rely on their elite fighter Yun Fei (Doran Tan) to save them from extinction by the Manchus led by the fierce and ruthless Shih Shao-Feng (James Tien). As he embarks on his journey Yun Fei enlists a disparate band of fighters to help him put an end to his peoples persecution.
