Italian drama co-written and directed by Ermanno Olmi. Rutger Hauer plays Andreas Kartak, a Paris tramp living in an alcoholic haze who is given 200 Francs by an elderly gentleman and told it must be repaid to the Shrine of St Therese. However, when Kartak spends the money on drink and luxuries he is visited by visions, memories and St Therese herself, chiding him for his failure to repay his debts. The cast also includes Franco Aldigheri, Jean-Maurice Chanet and Sandrine Dumas.
