'Fumed Oak' sees hen-pecked Henry Gow (Stanley Holloway) rebelling against wife Doris (Betty Ann Davies), daughter Elsie (Dorothy Gordon) and mother-in-law Mrs Rockett (Mary Merrall). In 'Ways and Means', fun-loving but penniless couple Stella and Toby Cartwright (Valerie Hobson and Nigel Patrick) attempt to restore their fortunes at the casino.
