John Huston directs this drama which takes place in Dublin in 1904. To celebrate Epiphany, sisters Kate and Julia Morkan (Helena Carroll and Cathleen Delany) host a dinner party. The guests include their nephew Gabriel (Donal McCann) and his wife Gretta (Anjelica Huston). During the course of the evening, a haunting rendition of an Irish lament has an overwhelming effect on Gretta as she is moved to remember a tragedy from her past.
