Four years after the release of his critically acclaimed third album, 'Out of the Darkness', Gizmo Varillas releases 'The World in Colour', featuring the timeless and poignant 'Where is the Love', 'Follow the Sun' with its haunting trumpet intro performed by Alfredo Pino, long-time collaborator of Mexico's star singer songwriter Natalia Lafourcade, 'Ojos Nuevos', a collaboration with virtuoso Welsh harpist Amanda Whiting, and the deeply personal 'Desde el Otro Lado'. 'Over the past few years, through loss, change, love, exploration, and growth, I've come to see the world in a richer, more nuanced way. I titled my latest album 'The World in Colour' to capture the full spectrum of emotions I've experienced - moments of joy, sadness, and all the shades in between. Musically, I wanted the album to be a cinematic experience, a companion on a road trip. It blends soul, Latin, Caribbean, funk, folk, and rock. My main inspiration came from the 1960s and '70s, particularly from Stax Records artists like Booker T., Isaac Hayes, William Bell, and their house band, the M.G.'s.' - Gizmo Varillas.
