Wasps Suite
Vaughan Williams composed his incidental music for Aristophanes’ comedy The Wasps in 1909. This new edition of the 25-minute orchestral suite incorporates extensive notes on the score. Highlights from its five movements, which have folksong woven throughout, include the Overture, buzzing noisily into life, the witty ‘March Past of the Kitchen Utensils’, and the jig-like ballet that closes the suite.
